TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Southampton took a walk of shame on their own ground as they lost against Manchester City in Saint Marry Stadium last weekend. The defeat came as a bad December start for Southampton boss Ronald Koeman, particularly when The Saints are to take on top Premier League clubs this month.
Tonight, Southampton will face Arsenal in Emirates Stadium, while Manchester United await on Monday and Everton on the coming weekend. League runner Chelsea are also on the list the week after. Therefore, former Dutch star Koeman said that they are not well prepared for the set of matches they are about to take.
Nevertheless, Southampton had once been a sensation earlier this season, as they scored eight victories out of 13 matches, thus sitting second at the table – ahead of Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool. The sensation crumbled when City defeated Southampton, leaving the Saints at third. Therefore, winning the match tonight in Emirates will be crucial, if Koeman plans to maintain the Southampton’s post at Premier League top four.
