TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) is set to roll top basketball tournament Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) in January 2016. According to Perbasi’s Secretary General, Amran A. Sinta, the organization is planning to make IBL Indonesia’s highest competition.
This way, according to Amran, there will be no other names for professional basketball league in Indonesia, such as National Basketball League which is held by PT DBL. Contract between PP Perbasi and PT DBL has ended in May without extension.
“Therefore, we immediately draft standard procedure to invite a number of basketball league promoters in Indonesia. We have invited four promoters including Starting Five,” Amran explained in a press conference on Thursday, July 9 in Jakarta, as reported by Antaranews.
“IBL will bring changes in the management and arrangement of competitions. IBL will also become benchmark for promoters and clubs,” said Dennies Depriadie, the Chairman of IBL Commissioner Council.
According to Dennis, there will be 12 men’s clubs and six women’s clubs participating in the upcoming IBL.
